Bushfire advice
for Karijini National Park The Department of
Environment and
Conservation (DEC) wishes to advise that a
bushfire
advice is in place
for people in Karijini National Park because of
bushfires started by lightning
strikes in the past week. The active
fire
is burning in a westerly direction on the
western side of Great
Northern Highway,
south of the Auski roadhouse.
People traveling
along the Great Northern Highway between the
Auski
roadhouse and
Karijini Drive should be aware of potential
smoke
hazards and
fire-fighting vehicles in the area.
DEC's fire crews
have completed asset protection burning around
the
Dales Gorge
Recreation site. Mop up has been completed
around the
Dales Gorge
Recreation site and the site is declared safe.
Crews will
continue to
monitor the Auski fire and undertake suppression
activity where possible.
Road Closures:
Dales Gorge Road
and Banjima Drive East, and the recreation site
including Dales
camp, Fortescue Falls and Circular Pool Day use
area
is now opened to
the public. People traveling along the Great
Northern
Highway between
the Auski roadhouse and Karijini Drive should be
aware
of potential smoke
hazards and fire-fighting vehicles moving in the
area.
