As a respite from this current chaotic, unpredictable World, come along and join us
in this most amazing and calming natural environment, for a reviving Re-Set!
STOP PRESS
We have just been officially Authorised to Remove any Road Block tapes related to Prescribed Burns that we come across, east of Yarra Road (incl. Wandoo National Park), after the Burn Advice is removed from the DBCA web daily updates.
There have been two such events since Easter, which are now completely out (see shaded areas in map below).
We’ll assign a portion of our volunteers to that challenge, with the main group starting on the proposed program as per below.
————————————————————————————————————-
For this Episode, we’ll be focussing on the NE sector of the Wandoo National Park – between Great Southern Highway and Talbot West Road. (Which is also the most heavily used area of the National Park!)
We’ll be photographing and way-pointing (p&w) all rubbish; clearing all Trees On Tracks that we can manage on the day, and recording (p&w) those that are too big; and we’ll stop and explore some of the more interesting sites in the area.
At the meeting point, the main group will be split up into flexible, agile groups of 3-4 vehicles and they will spread out through the area.
As many groups as possible are invited to meet for a noon lunch at Mt Observation Lookout, where we’ll review what has been achieved by this mission so far.
After lunch, we’ll split again for a while, and rendezvous at a place TBA whilst at the Meeting Point, before heading back home, circa 3:00pm.
Tools for handling the clearing and cleaning of tracks will be useful; no trailers will be required for this Episode. Cameras, videos and tidy Record-Keepers are essential for helping us recce the area for the planning of future Episodes – please come equipped.
Current weather forecast is 12 – 24 C, with 13 km/h ENE breeze. i.e. Delightful!!
