Following on from the two recent VERY successful Episodes of “Parrot Bush Bashing!” (which were a Hard Slog!!), we are now entering the “mop up” phase of our Trees-On-Tracks project.
At the coming meeting I will reveal a map showing how little is remaining of what we set out to clear!
This time we will be targeting two areas to clear the known TREEs from the roads/tracks: (a) Catchment – Manna Flat, (b) Catchment – Legion/Tribune; and then anything else we come across as each team wends it’s way over prescribed roads/tracks to Yarra Road and back to the morning’s MeetUp Point. (I’m expecting Parrot Bush to be an incidental activity!)
Each Team will require at least one petrol chainsaw and some cordless chainsaws, drag chains, and a crow bar (for log-rolling).
It would be a great benefit to me and for planning the future work we will do in The Wandoo, for each Team to have a person who has the OziExplorer mapping app (configured to Maps/Lat_Long Display <Degrees) on an Android device/tablet or Hema HN7 Navigator; AND/OR a person who has the Solocator GPS Camera App (set to Coordinate format LAT/LONG) on their mobile phone (Android/iOS). And for those persons to record where and what happened on your Route, and then to share that with me to be compiled into the main Database that I have built.
Amongst the most useful other equipment to bring: personal PPE including safety footwear, secateurs, loppers, weeding/gardening gloves, sturdy rakes/hoe’s, cordless reciprocating saws and pruning saws.
Depending on numbers available, a “flying squad” may be assigned to deal with some ancillary items on our Wandoo Clean Up project list.
