Roelands village is one of the locations where ‘The Stolen Generation’ were housed in Western Australia. It is a significant site in our history and worthy of our support. Click for more
Track Care was invited to have a look at Roelands Village near Collie to determine where we could assist the Indigenous community that now runs the Village. Westpac, through Amanda from the Indigenous Team, coordinate a day meeting with the management team (Les and Jo to start, followed by ‘Junior’).
In between a busy schedule, the team managed to discuss what Track Care does and the synergies that exist between the three groups represented at the meeting. Track Care has a strong bond with several Indigenous Communities throughout WA and is always seeking ways to enhance that bond or create new ones. This is a new one and looks like being a long and good one.
Initially, we are planning to help with the removal of Cotton Weed (More info) that is scattered throughout the property. Numbers will be limited so it is important that you register your interest in attending as soon as possible via button below. The project is scheduled to start Friday, October 16 (if you can) through to Sunday, October 18. It is such short notice because it is season dependent. If we are delayed beyond October, the Cotton Weed will have flowered and started to spread many seeds and the soil will be dry, making it difficult to actually do the weeding. This is a trial run to determine if we all work well together 😊 and as a precursor to many more projects.
This location has accommodation available for large groups to hire. There is also a possibility for camping to occur on the property in the future. Accommodation information can be found on the Roelands Village Web site (Click for more).
We would like you and your friends to be part of the inaugural Westpac – Track Care – Roelands Working Bee. Please register to bring as many people as you can, and we will update you with more information as we move towards this fantastic weekend.
The project camping area is limited, so please register soon and help us help Roelands Village!
